A. For many soldiers in the Union army during the Civil War desertion was a great temptation. Many were through with seeing all the death. Homesickness was also something that caused the leaving of so many soldiers. Some soldiers asked for leave to visit their families, but some disregarded that all together and just left. If I were a soldier I would have not left the army. Even though there might have been homesickness I would have still stayed. I signed up to be part of the army; therefore I would stay for my term. If I would have left, it would have been unfair to the Union . I had signed a contract to be part of the Union for a certain amount of time, so I would fulfill that promise.
