A. Dill, being from up north, is not accustomed to the treatment of African-Americans. So when he saw how Judge Gilmer treated Tom Robinson in court, he broke down in tears. (You also have to take into account the Dill is only eleven years of age). I think that Scout was impacted the same as Dill was, but she did not show it as much because she was accustomed to it.

The Robinson kids help out around the house and nobody is left out.
The Ewell family
The Ewell kids do not help out around the house and some of the family members are lonely and left out.
